Prioritizing YOU This Mother’s Day!

Mother’s day is soon approaching and it’s important to make sure you take some time to relax and treat yourself for all of the hard work you do! When you are busy with work and taking care of family and loved ones, oftentimes it can become difficult to find the time to take care of yourself and give your body what it needs to thrive. Since this is a day revolving around appreciating all that you do, let’s get into some ways to prioritize self care this Mother’s Day!

One way to practice self care this Mother’s day is to decompress and take some alone time. Use this time alone to listen to your body and see what it needs. Maybe you are craving a nutritious meal because you don’t always have time to cook for yourself, or maybe you are craving a meal from your favorite restaurant! Whatever it is, listen to the cues your body is giving you and reward yourself for all of the hard work you do, because you deserve it!

Another way to practice self care is to make sure you get enough sleep! Sleep can be difficult because you may not always feel like you have enough time to get between 7 and 9 hours a night, or you may even just have trouble sleeping because of stress going on. Whatever it is, this is the perfect day to catch up on sleep and stay in bed a little extra. If your body needs to catch up on sleep, this will help you wake up feeling refreshed and ready to enjoy your day.

Practices like breathwork and meditation are also excellent for easing the mind and clearing your head of any stress you may be experiencing. Meditating can be as simple as sitting in a quiet room and paying attention to how you feel, your breathing, and recognizing any thoughts that may come into your mind throughout the exercise. There are also many free resources for both breathwork and meditation on platforms like YouTube that can guide you through these exercises if you prefer some help!

Next, you can try some gentle movement if you are feeling up to it. This can be anything from a short walk alone or with friends and family, or even attending your favorite spin class. Movement will help you release the feel-good hormones to get you feeling even more joyful and relaxed on this day for you.

Mother’s Day is a day to celebrate all of the hard work moms do each and every day, and practicing self care is a great way to treat yourself. While self care is something that should always be a priority, it can be challenging to always find the time to implement it. So, use this day to stay connected with your body and give it what it needs. Spend time with friends and family, watch your favorite show, and make this day about you! Shoutout to all of the amazing moms out there, your hard work does not go unnoticed!
